Tihei mauriora.

Muia ana ngā taumahatanga kua tau ai ki runga i a tātau o Ngāi Te Rangi i ngā marama kua pahure ake.

On behalf of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Te Rangi Iwi Trust I would like to thank all Trustees, Staff and Ngāi Te Rangi whānui for their commitment towards yet another challenging year. Our mission statement is “To advance the Cultural, Economic, Social, Environmental and Political Development of Ngāi Te Rangi” and this year the Rūnanga has certainly been tested with all. As you would have noted through the reporting in our newsletters, Ngāi Te Rangi is very much involved in its community – being the largest iwi in Tauranga Moana it is a must. If you know of whānau that are not registered, registration can be completed online at www.ngaiterangi.org.nz or contact our office to have forms sent out to you.

To our representatives and volunteers who have assisted and worked tirelessly to monitor and manage the clean-up efforts of our takutai moana due to the Rena disaster - ngā mihi nui kia koutou katoa.

At a time where many are gearing up for the Christmas Celebrations, some whānau find this to be one of the most difficult times of the year. For our Health and Social Services unit this can be one of their busiest times. The Rūnanga is accepting kōha of food parcels, and toys to awhi those whānau or alternatively please donate to your local Foodbank.

The Board of Trustees were astounded by the level of Ngāi Te Rangi students involved in tertiary education studies this year. The Rūnanga will be offering tertiary education grants in 2012. More information will be published in the January issue of Tera Te Marama.

Nō reira e te whānau o ngā iwi o Ngāi Te Rangi, Meri Kirihimete me ngā mihi o te tau hou kei te heke. He mihi aroha tēnei kia koutou katoa.

Penetaka Brian Dickson
