Why Register with us?
For some time now, Ngaiterangi Iwi whanau have been able to register on the Ngaiterangi Iwi Beneficiary Roll. This is an important process for all iwi of Aotearoa for a number of reasons, some fo these outlined below. More importantly however, Ngaiterangi Iwi is currently engaged in various developments and processes of which the reuslts will affect all Ngaiterangi Iwi members in some way. These developments and processes include the Treaty of Waitangi Claim, Fisheries Settlement, and Te Hokinga Mai o Mauao. Our aim is to register as many Ngaiterangi Iwi whanau as possible into our database. Hence, the following reasons are why you should register with Ngaiterangi Iwi:
Communication: Whether there are hui on or we would like to send out a newsletter, the primary reason for having such a database is so that we can effectively communicate with Ngaiterangi Iwi members and inform members who are based across the motu about all things Ngaiterangi!!
Beneficiary Roll: As mentioned important developments that we are currently engaged in will result in iwi members being affected in some way or form. Registering will ensure we can establish who is of Ngaiterangi Iwi descent and therefore who may be entitled to benefit from such developments.
Whakapapa: Of course whakapapa is at the core of this kaupapa as it is with most Maori kaupapa. If you are of Ngaiterangi Iwi descent, no matter where you are based you are entitled to register. We would like to keep in touch with as many Ngaiterangi Iwi whanau as possible, no matter where they are based.
