Iwi Legislation

  • Iwi Management Plan (1995). This is the first resource management plan developed by Anthony Fisher. This is currently under review.
  • Te Awanui Tauranga Moana Harbour Management Plan (2008).

State of the Takiwā

  • Stream Health Monitoring Assessment Kit (SHMAK). Developed by NIWA, this user friendly water quality sampling kit can help monitoring the health of a stream. It investigates aspects such as water parameters (water temperature, velocity, conductivity, clarity, etc), stream bed and bank composition, and the presence of invertebrates and plant life.
  • Cultural Health Index (CHI). Developed by Dr. Gail Tipa, this a tool to allows Iwi and Hapu to assess and manage the cultural and biological health of the streams and catchments in their rohe. The assessment form and user manual are available for download in the RAUEMI section.

Kaitiaki Toolkits

The Kaitiaki Toolkit was developed as a tool to assist Tangata Kaitiaki to manage their rohe whenua in terms of our own values and also in terms of statutory requirements. It has seven chapters which cover; 1. Hapu Management Plans, 2. Cultural Impact Assessments, 3. Earthworks Monitoring, 4. Water Quality testing, 5. Natural Biodiversity Assessment, 6. GIS Mapping and 7. Basic Legal Provisions.

Library

Our inbox receives a huge number of reports, plans, and generally useful information which cover all aspects of the unit. We have held these and begun a library for all of Ngai Te Rangi to utilise. Attached is the spreadsheet which has the basic details (title, author, etc) of the media we have in the library presently. All items are available for use but cannot be taking off premises.
