Reon Tuanau
MANAGER

Reon hails from the far north, Otawhiwhi Marae, Te Whanau O Tauwhao. Since becoming Manager of the unit he has taken on responsibility which touches every sector of the unit and it is his role to uphold the vision and mission of the Iwi in respect of environmental and kaitiaki matters. He must build relationships and acts as an Iwi representative on many environmental based Council Forums. He works with Marae and Hapu to empower them to be their own Kaitiaki of their rohe whenua and rohe moana, and helps develop the legislation for that through Hapu Management Plans. He must also oversee the process of resource consents and frequently report the work of the unit back to the board.

Donna Poka
LEGAL COORDINATOR

Donna is born and breed from the Te Moutere o Matakana, Ngāti Tauaiti. She carries with her a friendly nature and a wealth of knowledge, particularly in the legal front. Donna’s role as the Legal Coordinator allows her to interact with the whanau and help to protect their whenua as seen in the Blakely Pacific Environment Court case.

Te Puea Dempsey
TECHNICAL SUPPORT OFFICER

Te Puea is an “import from over the hill”. From Waikato-Maniapoto and Ngāpuhi, Te Puea found her way to the Rūnanga through her studies at BOP Polytechnic. Her role as RMU Technical Support Advisor involves much of the administration of the Unit, but also allows room for Project Development and Technical Work where required.
