Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Te Rangi has a community development position dedicated in the main to helping marae with any activities or projects, large or small.
Some projects that the CDO can help marae committees with may include training key members to complete arts funding proposals for carving projects like paepae, waharoa, flagstaffs, wharenui and funding proposals for major capital works projects e.g. wharekai and wharenui renovations or new ablution blocks; feasibility studies for major works; conservation plans, research and publishing of whakapapa books, charitable trust deeds and much more.
If your marae committee has had to put some great ideas on the backburner because of stretched finances and or the unavailability or access to resource people to help projects become a reality, then contact the Community Development Officer, Te Maumako August on 5753 765 Ext 223 - if she can't help your project directly, she may be able to co-ordinate a meeting with the right person who can.
